What is a C.H.E.K Practitioner?

Jul 7, 2020 | Back & Neck Pain, High Performance Training, Optimal Health, Rehabilitation

A C.H.E.K practitioner understands that the body is a system of many complex inter-related systems that all affect each other.

They are highly skilled in human biomechanics, orthopedic rehabilitation, and sports performance. The multi-disciplinary C.H.E.K system is scientifically based and requires extensive training for practitioners. Specialized musculoskeletal therapy resolves the core problem behind pain, discomfort, and tension. It uses an assessment system based on the holistic “Survival Totem Pole” model. The Totem Pole identifies the real cause of your problem so that therapy can target that area in bringing you long term relief. The Survival Totem Pole has breathing at the top as the most important function for survival. Your body must keep breathing as efficiently as possible and may sacrifice anything below breathing (on the Totem Pole) to do so. While your pain, discord, or tension may come from one section of your body on the Totem Pole, that section may not be the actual cause of your problem. Instead, the section above may be the real culprit. For instance, a lower back pain problem may not necessarily be caused by a dysfunction in the lower back area. That dysfunction might actually come from an area somewhere above it on the Totem Pole. After identifying it, the therapy will then work on the offending area (e.g. your teeth or your jaw), as well as your lower back (spine) to resolve your pain. Other influences can also cause Lower Back Pain, including nutritional problems or emotional ones. Created by Paul Chek, founder of the C.H.E.K Institute, the Survival Totem Pole is a vital holistic model for health.
